"Ben Murdock makes contemporary ceramic ornaments.  His work is delicate, restrained and charming.  His pieces are imaginative, beautifully made, often humorous and celebratory... Murdock dabs for detail in the most mundane and discarded corners of our culture.  From this eclectic jumble he collects, considers and then creates.  The work which results is filled with surprise, affection and delight."

"...Pieces are richly glazed in vibrant, fluid earthenware colours, transfers and lustres, emphasising the kitsch qualities and adding to the jewel-like ornateness..."

Ben's postgraduate body of work (2003) focused on the collection and transformation of mundane objects through the process of slip casting. He aimed to create pieces that were unusual, humourous and acted as a catalyst for individual thought making.

After an a period away from ceramics Ben has recently been able to pursue his passion for clay once again. He is currently developing a new body of work which he launched at TENT 2010 during London Design Week. He is currently investigating relationships in space with a focus on boxes. The new pieces will be constructed marrying slipcast and hand built elements with the addition of mixed media.
